Third-generation Oxford-based artist Kendra Troschel uses Romantic Expressionism to explore femininity and her unique view of the world. Her art skillfully straddles the line between abstraction and realism, creating dreamlike scenes that come to life.

Kendra’s upbringing in an artistic environment has had a profound influence on her. Her mother, Marianne Haugland, was known for her expressive figurative paintings, while her grandfather, Klaus Döring, excelled in abstract art that captured inexpressible emotions. Kendra also draws inspiration from literature, admiring Shakespeare, Jane Austen and Oscar Wilde for their ability to convey profound truths and beauty through words. These influences taught her the crucial role that emotions play in defining moments, memories and identities.

Kendra’s approach to painting is intuitive rather than planned. She believes that art created from the subconscious mind better captures true emotion. She prepares for her work by immersing herself in literature, movies and photographs and indirectly incorporating these stimuli into her creations before she begins to paint.

She has already exhibited at “Feminine Power on Canvas IV” at the Pashmin Art Gallery in Hamburg in 2024. “Women in Focus” in the UK was in April 2024, and she will also exhibit her work at the Archive Art Museum in Beijing from May 24 to June 24, 2024, at Schlossmuseum Greiz from October 19 to December 16, 2024, and at Kunsthaus Weis in Austria from October 24 to December 7, 2024.

Kendra’s previous exhibitions highlight her international presence, including the Shanghai International Artfair in 2023 and solo exhibitions at the Pashmin Art Gallery. She has also exhibited her works at various venues including the Kaifeng Art Museum in China, The Holy Art Gallery in London and the Greenland Marker Center in Kaifeng, China.
